Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks), at room temperature
- 6 eggs, separated whites and yolks
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 cups flour, sifted
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter; add egg yolks one at a time and beat well after each addition. Blend in vanilla, lemon juice and sour cream.
- Add shifted flour, baking soda and salt into the batter. Continue to beat until well blend.
- In another medium mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peak form.
- Fold the egg whites into the cake batter. Then pour into two greased and floured loaf pans evenly.
- Bake at 325 F degrees with water bath (place a pan of water on the bottom shelf of the oven) for about 1- 1 1/2 hours or until cake tests done.
