Honey Orange Peels 蜜饯橙皮

The orange tree in my backyard has many oranges this year. In stead of throwing away the orange peels, I use them to make this honey orange peels. They can be eaten as snack,or put few in my green tea to become orange green tea. There are many benefits from the orange peels. See the chart below.

You will need...
  • Fresh oranges
  • Sugar
  • Honey
  • Water

Easy to make:
  1. Peel the orange skin thinly with a fruit peeler. Do not use the white part of the peel because it will taste bitter.
  2. In a small pot, broil orange peels on high for 5 minutes. Drain the water and rinse with cold water few times to rinse out the bitter juice.
  3. Bring the pot back on the stove, add same amount of sugar, honey and water, cook on high and bring to broil. Stir consistently until the juice reduced and sticky, not too dry if you like soft. It will be chewy when dry.

After cool, sprinkle some sugar over and storage in a jar with cover.
